Outline
of future plans for Pinellas Trail and
other trails in Pinellas County
The "original Pinellas Trail" has added new sections from 34th Street in St. Petersburg (Gibbs High School) past Tropicana Field to downtown St. Petersburg at Straub Park (Museum of Art and the Marina). The newest section connecting 1st (First) Street North through the adjacent neighborhoods in the northeast section of the city. The overpass at US Highway 19 North at Enterprise Road in Clearwater is completed and will eventually connect through Clearwater (The Progress Energy Trail is now available to users from Brighthouse Field (St. Petersburg College/Clearwater Campus) to Belleair Road. Upcoming plans for the widening of Tarpon Avenue/Keystone Road in Tarpon Springs will connect the western trail corridor to East Lake Road and Brooker Creek Preserve. Additional sections will be the focus to complete "the loop" around Pinellas County with the expectation that it will be completed by 2020.
